Hello, again, lovely listeners! We're back this week with our first book pick of the year: American Panda by Gloria Chao. The things about it we loved we adored, and the things we were uncertain about we could mostly shrug off because of the things we loved. We also talk our current reads, Keanu 2k18, what's happening with our Patreon, and what we've got coming up next.

00:00-02:38 – Intro
02:38-32:22 - Current Reads

In our first episode back from our winter vacation, we have lots of new and exciting things to share with you! The first (and most obvious) is that we've modified our posting schedule. We're going to be posting new episodes every other week, though it looks like they'll be quite long, so the amount of content you're getting will be about the same. We're also launching a Patreon page! You'll find our website content mirrored there for free (including the show notes and transcripts) and some great additional content if you sign on as one of our patrons. We're also going to spend a great deal of time talking about all the great (and not so great) things we read while we were on vacation. Plus we're going to make a very inaccurate Oscar prediction. (Michael Stuhlbarg did not get an Oscar nod and WE ARE CURRENTLY VERY BITTER ABOUT IT.) We're excited for all the new things happening in 2018 and hope you are, too!

00:00-01:45– Intro
01:45-03:05– Schedule Changes
03:05-08:18– Patreon
08:18-1:00:26– What We Read on Our Winter Vacation

For this, our final episode of 2017 (and a very happy holiday to anyone celebrating, and a lovely Monday to all) we're discussing our most-hyped movie of the year: Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We swear we loved it a lot, even though we spend a great deal of this episode picking to pieces things we thought could've been done differently. We also talk about our current reads and what we've got coming up next.

As a quick reminder, we'll be taking January off from the podcast to rest, relax, and ready some awesome new content for 2018. We want to thank each and every one of you who has listened to the podcast, read the transcripts, and chatted with us on Twitter. It's been so wonderful getting to hear from you and talking about our favorite reads and fandom things this year. We hope we'll see you when we return in February. Until then, happy reading and a happy new year!

Today we are talking about Phasma by Delilah S Dawson with one of our lovely friends, librarian-in-training Di! You can find her tweeting about a wide variety of nerdy and wonderful things @bookishdi and her AO3 account is kerrykhat. We talk about our deep love of Star Wars, the loveliness of The Last Jedi's cast, and why Brendol Hux is the absolute worst. We also share our current reads and what we've got coming up next.

November 13, 2017 03:49 AM PST

This week we're talking all about the last Marvel movie, Thor: Ragnarok. Kay is thoroughly pleased, Chelsea is pleasantly surprised, and Chris Hemsworth is absolutely hilarious. While we don't touch much on the movie's themes of imperialism and colonialism in the podcast, we've included a few links from some super smart folks for you to check out if interested! Apologies for the audio quality from Kay's end for this episode. It sounds like she's recording in an echo-chamber, but that should be fixed next episode. And, as always, we'll be talking about what we're reading and what's coming up next.

00:00-00:35– Intro
00:35-18:50– Current Reads
18:50-36:24– Discussion of Thor: Ragnarok
